Just Born, NPLF.org

The Nashville Public Library Foundation is a local nonprofit that promotes the initiatives of and raises funds for the Nashville Public Library. Their offices are in the main library campus downtown, and they have been a lovely bunch of people to work with.
Here’s what their website says about their mission:
“The Nashville Public Library Foundation seeks and stewards funding from private sources to enhance the programs, facilities and collections of the Nashville Public Library.”
We are really proud of this website design. It’s elegant, easy to read and navigate, and has a visual style that feels modern-yet-classic all at the same time. We hope you’ll check out the new NPLF.org.

Dual Monitors, Bigger Monitors, Increase Employee ...
If you’ve ever been to our offices, then you’ve certainly seen the two-monitors phenomenon in action. All but one person in our office uses a two-monitor computer set up.
I must admit, somewhat sheepishly, that I am that lone single-monitor user. However, I do have a large wide-screen display that has greatly increased my on-screen “real estate.”
A new study shows that two monitors do much more than just making you look cool… seems they help your productivity as well. Sweet. In fact, they can help you complete tasks up to 52% faster than your one-monitor peers. Actually, it’s not the adding of a second screen itself that increases productivity… but, rather, it is the increased size of your on-screen real estate. So simply buying a bigger monitor would help.
From the article:
“The study concluded that someone using a larger monitor could save 2.5 hours a day.”
Wow. That’s a number that could easily justify the added cost of a new or bigger monitor. Our employees find that the increased productivity comes from having multiple programs open and readily available at the same time. Your Outlook inbox, for example, open on one screen… with Quickbooks or Internet Explorer open in the other. Hopping back and forth between the two is beyond simple, and the time you save from not having to minimize and maximize program windows adds up quickly.
Microsoft also has an excellent “how-to” article on setting up a dual-monitor work station.
So the bottom line is this: dual monitors–even just bigger monitors in general–are not just for power users anymore. More and more companies are seeing employee productivity rise dramatically from the two monitor set up, and the trend is picking up serious steam.
Obviously, if you are a Keystone customer, we would love to talk to you further about our own dual monitor set ups and help you place an order for the right monitor additions for you and your employees. Let us know if we can help.

T-shirts & Yummy Sandwiches: Keystone Univers...
Today we’re holding another of our now-famous Keystone University classes. Pencils are being sharpened, lunches are being boxed, T-shirts are being printed, and chairs are being arranged.
There’s a bit of a buzz in the office on Keystone University days. That’s because it’s a terribly fun event to put on. Today we’re about to lead 10 or so people through another SEO 101 class, where we hope to teach them how search engines work and what they can do to help improve their rankings.
The class is a lot of fun–trust me…the class is fun–but the real reason people come are the freebies. We give every student a free Keystone University T-shirt, as well as a free tasty lunch. Yep, we know the way to our clients hearts: T-shirts and yummy sandwiches.
I don’t know where you went to college, but I can pretty much guarantee they didn’t give you free t-shirts and yummy sandwiches with every class…and if they did, I’m sure they billed you for them in your tuition or room and board. Cheap university meanies!
Thankfully, Keystone University is a benevolent, charitable school, where the students clothing and stomach needs come first. If you think you could use some t-shirts and yummy sandwiches, then by all means, please give us a call or shoot us an email. We’re working on a schedule for the whole year that will include several Keystone University classes on a variety of topics. Maybe you have an idea for a topic we could cover; we’d love to hear it if you do.

Keystone University to Offer Bachelors Degrees in ...
Okay, so our Keystone University doesn’t actually offer a Bachelor’s Degree in anything. But if it did, it would be in the areas of Fun and Eating. We have a tenured, experienced staff of instructors who basically majored in those areas themselves.
What is Keystone University? Well, I sure am glad you asked, because the whole point of writing this post was to tell you about it.
Keystone University is a free, hour-long class, taught by Keystone Business Solutions professionals. Each session covers a different topic in the area of technology like “Everything You Need To Know About Search Engines” or “Why Your Company Needs A Blog.”
We’ll feed you lunch, teach you something useful in a fun way, and we’ll even throw in a free “Keystone University” T-shirt! Now how can you turn that down?
If you’d like to learn more about our upcoming classes, or how you can sign up to be a part of one, stroll on over to our official site. Classes are limited in size due to the fact that only so many people will fit in our conference room, but we’ll gladly reschedule extra classes when the demand is high. We want to make sure we’re providing the kind of technology advice our clients find useful, so we hope you’ll check it out. Maybe you have an area of interest we’re not currently covering, and if so… we’d love to hear your suggestions too.
Hey, no textbooks to buy, no papers, no final exams. It’s all the good stuff you remember from college, minus the tuition!

Salvage Your Company’s Productivity With Web...
The internet can be a tremendous resource for businesses. It can also be a gigantic, colossal waste of time that distracts employees and kills productivity. It all sort of depends on the kind of people you have working for you and what kind of access to the web that you allow them.
Between email, company websites, and information gathering, it’s nearly impossible to avoid having internet access for your employees. But how do you make sure Suzie is really doing research and emailing clients instead of updating the blog on her MySpace page? Assuming you’ve ruled out “standing over Suzie’s shoulder”, the answer is easy: Websense.
Websense is a leading provider of internet security and filtering products, integrating seamlessly with networks and desktops of all varieties. Set up a Websense filter, customize it with the specific types of websites you want your employees to avoid, and watch your company productivity soar. Websense also filters out websites with malicious intentions that could harm your computers with spyware and other harmful programs.
Keystone is a proud provider of Websense solutions, and can easily set it up to work with your existing network. Give us a call to learn more, or check out our company website.
