Is there Such Thing as too Much Good News?

 goodnewsnow

It’s no secret that times are getting hard. Job layoffs are going up, unemployment is going up, the housing market is going down, what’s happening to us? Sears seems to agree that this country needs a little pick-me-up.

Teaming up with AOL, Sears created an all-things-positive news website. Called Good News Now, the site is basically a blog of happy events, and let’s face it, there aren’t that many to write about anymore. Stories are organized under sub-categories such as Heroes, Winners, Health, Green, and More Good News. Sears’ favorite stories are under the listing Upbeat News. It even has a Countdown to the Weekend clock on the homepage. It features articles about brave people overcoming huge obstacles or videos of romantic weddings, or even rags to riches stories.

Maybe one or two of these stories is refreshing every once in a while, but like TechCrunch said about the news site, “If you need a reason to save journalism, this is it.”
