Google Goes With Goats For Lawn Care & Maintenance

goats

In their continued efforts to go green (and grab headlines), Google apparently hired a bunch of goats (over a hundred of them) to clear a field of brush and grass and weeds.  Yeah, seriously.  It’s not an April Fool’s Day thing.

Yahoo actually beat Google to this idea, according to the article, hiring their own herd of goats for brush-clearing.

I can see the future now… entire lawn-care companies will begin offering goats and goat-based services very soon, to appeal to the carbon-sensitive folks in communities across America.

This has publicity stunt written all over it, by the way.  The article states that they didn’t save any money going this route over a regular mower.  And whatever carbons they saved by not mowing a single field with a John Deere, well… let’s just say it’s neglegible.  Call me when the Google founders ditch their luxury jumbo-jet and start flying across the country on the backs of eagles… maybe then I’ll be more impressed.
