Firefox 3.5 Getting an Update Already?
Firefox 3.5, launched in early July, is already announcing an updated version. Mozilla announced just yesterday that Firefox 3.5 had several security and stability issues that needed to be addressed. So, Mozilla releases Firefox 3.5.1 yesterday to update some items and solve the previously mentioned issues.
Mozilla called the problems in Firefox 3.5 “critical” because of their potential. MacWorld reports that the problem was with “the software’s ‘Just-In-Time’ compiler used for JavaScript. A crash could result in an exploitable memory corruption problem that could, under certain cases, be exploited by an attacker to run arbitrary code, like malware.” Details on the security problem can be found here.
Don’t panic that your computer is going to be hacked by some crazy attackers or a virus will get to it faster if you have Firefox 3.5. All you have to do is update to Firefox 3.5.1 here. Issues like this probably should have been found and addressed when Firefox 3.5 was in its beta stages.
